Well sorry for the absence!

A lot has happened since my Christmas Edition (yep you read that right!), having broken my arm falling off my pushbike and then just getting busy, I am only just getting back to the PM Newsletters, but the last 7 or 8 months has given me plenty of new ideas for discussion so stay tuned.

1. Are Projects Really so Hard?

I continue to be amazed by the amount of employed project managers who still don't understand the absolute basics of project management. What is even more surprising is that these people continue to get project management roles when those who we know from experience are far more skilled languish in unemployment. This strange irony of passing over those with the experience for those without it is a problem.  Whilst we should all give those newer to the field a chance, the impact of inexperience to projects can be substantial and should be considered.  I've talked about this before on my YouTube channel where recruiting an experienced and effective project manager is a combination of several different factors not just skills. The organisation and the recruiter need to understand what project management is, what sort of project manager skills they need and if they are looking for a junior Project Manager, what sort of support is offered to ensure success.
