Project management has been around for a very long time, but why do so many projects still go wrong? Given the training courses, Masters Degree's and other various certifications and support organisations, we have talked about this forever in many different ways with varying degree's on sustainable success. From my observations and in my experience, many project managers still don't seem to know which technique or tool to use in order to address issues and move their projects forward, but this is just one of the reasons.

I’ve been involved in project management for about 25 years and I’m continually surprised at how many people still don’t know how to apply core project management techniques and principles to various problems. These same people are often surprised when I point out the basics to guide them through to a solution. It's not that they don't know the technique in most cases, it's just that in all the throws of project land, they forget what tools they have at their disposal. 

If you search hashtag#projectmanagement in Google, hundreds of articles come up but I wanted to approach this subject differently. Assuming hashtag#projectmanagers already know the theory (because there are already plenty of training resources, groups and educational organisations out there), we are going to look more holistically. Instead, I am going to apply hashtag#sociology coupled with my hashtag#informationtechnology, hashtag#businesstransformation and hashtag#programmanagement background to look at some of the root causes, the behaviours, trends, hashtag#organisational issues and contemporary hashtag#society to really provide some practical focus to project management.
